mickey thompson autolite special
Mickey Thompson returned to Bonneville in 1968 for a crack at the wheel-driven land speed record in a two-engine streamliner christened the Autolite Special. His record attempt was shut down that year by bad weather. The subsequent loss of his major sponsor, Ford, prevented Mickey's return to the salt in 1969 for another try. That was the end of the project, and with it Mickey's LSR dreams.
